Prosalirus was named by Shubin and Jenkins (1995). It is not extant. Its type is Prosalirus bitis.
It was assigned to Prosaliridae by Shubin and Jenkins (1995); to Salientia by Sanchiz (1998); and to Notobatrachidae by Gao and Wang (2001).
