Taxonomy
Tornatella punctostriata was named by Adams (1840) [DISTRIBUTION: Pleistocene-Recent; Western Atlantic.]. It is extant.

It was recombined as Acteon punctostriatus by DuBar (1962); it was recombined as Acteon punctostriata by Richards (1962); it was recombined as Acteon (Acteon) punctostriatus by Woodring (1970); it was recombined as Japonactaeon punctostriata by Hendy et al. (2008).

Synonyms
  • Actaeon riomaensis was named by Maury (1917) [DISTRIBUTION: Miocene-Pliocene; Dominican Republic.]. It is not a trace fossil.

    It was recombined as Acteon riomaensis by Woodring (1928); it was synonymized subjectively with Acteon (Acteon) punctostriatus by Woodring (1970).
  • Acteon cubensis was named by Gabb (1873). It is a 3D body fossil.

    It was recombined as Tornatella (Actaeon) cubensis by Guppy (1876) and Guppy (1876); it was synonymized subjectively with Acteon (Acteon) punctostriatus by Woodring (1970).
