Taxonomy
Afradapis longicristatus was named by Seiffert et al. (2009). Its type specimen is CGM 83690, a mandible (partial left mandible preserving P4–M3 and masseteric fossa), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Birket Qarun 2, which is in a Priabonian channel sandstone in the Birket Qarun Formation of Egypt. It is the type species of Afradapis.
