Venus rugatina was named by Heilprin (1886). It is extant.

It was recombined as Antigona (Ventricola) rugatina by Olsson and Harbison (1953); it was recombined as Antigona rugatina by De Buisonjé (1974); it was recombined as Globivenus rugatina by Coan and Valentich-Scott (2012).
