Taxonomy
Orthoceras crebriliratum was named by Girty (1909). Its type locality is USGS 2078 green, McAlester quad, which is in a Brigantian marine shale in the Caney Formation of Oklahoma.
It was recombined as Mitorthoceras crebriliratum by Gordon (1964) and Kröger and Mapes (2005).
