Germanodactylus rhamphastinus
Taxonomy
Ornithocephalus rhamphastinus was named by Wagner (1851). It is not a trace fossil. Its type locality is Daiting (BSPG collection), which is in a Tithonian lagoonal/restricted shallow subtidal lime mudstone in the Mörnsheim Formation of Germany.
It was recombined as Pterodactylus rhamphastinus by Seeley (1869) and Zittel (1890); it was recombined as Germanodactylus rhamphastinus by Wellnhofer (1970), Unwin (2003) and Andres et al. (2014).
