Calyptraea imbricata was named by Sowerby (1824). It is extant.

It was recombined as Crucibulum imbricatum by Soper and Grant and IV (1932); it was recombined as Crucibulum imbricata by Durham (1941); it was recombined as Crucibulum (Dispotaea) imbricata by Olsson (1942) and Hendy et al. (2008).
