Subcraspedites was named by Spath (1924) [Sepkoski's age data: J Tith-u K Berr-u]. Its type is Ammonites plicomphalus.

It was assigned to Craspeditidae by Spath (1947); and to Ammonoidea by Sepkoski (2002).
