Taxonomy
Dolichosoma longissimum was named by Fritsch (1875). It is not extant. Its type specimen is ČGH 129, a partial skeleton (skull with anterior vertebrae and ribs). Its type locality is Nyrany, which is in a Westphalian D lacustrine coal in the Kladno Formation of the Czech Republic.
It was synonymized subjectively with Phlegethontia linearis by Lund (1978); it was recombined as Phlegethontia longissima by McGinnis (1967), Carroll et al. (1998) and Anderson (2002).
