Taxonomy
Epismilia glabrata was named by Reuss (1868). Its type locality is Monteviale, which is in a Rupelian perireef or subreef limestone in the Castelgomberto Formation of Italy.

It was recombined as Indosmilia glabrata by Frost (1981).
