Carroll et al. (1998; Encyclopedia of Paleoherpetology 1) refers to this taxon as: "Ophiderpeton" swisshelmense, and lists it under: Ophiderpetontidae incertae sedis
Taxonomy
Ophiderpeton swisshelmense was named by Thayer (1985). Its type specimen is UALP 5167, a set of vertebrae (incomplete single dorsal vertebra ), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Swisshelm Mts. amphibian site, which is in a Westphalian A/Westphalian B shallow subtidal limestone in the Black Prince Limestone Formation of Arizona.
