Cardium (Trachycardium) claibornense was named by Aldrich (1911). It is a 3D body fossil. It is the type species of Trachycardium (Agnocardia).
It was corrected as Cardium (Trachycardium) claibornensis by Aldrich (1911) and Harris (1919); it was recombined as Trachycardium (Agnocardia) claibornense by Stewart (1930); it was recombined as Agnocardia claibornense by Vokes (1984) and Schneider (2002).
