Taxonomy
Volutomitra wandoensis was named by Holmes (1859). It is extant. Its type locality is Wando River, Pleistocene, which is in a Pleistocene marine horizon in the Wando Formation of South Carolina.
It was recombined as Mitra wandoensis by Cooke (1936); it was recombined as Vexillum wandoense by Hendy et al. (2008).
