Aardonyx celestae
Taxonomy
Aardonyx celestae was named by Yates et al. (2010) [BP/1/6505 (caudal portion of a left maxilla) may represent part of the same bone as BP/1/6254]. Its type specimen is BP/1/6254, a maxilla (rostral half of the left maxilla), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Marc's Quarry, farm Spion Kop 932 (BPI), which is in a Hettangian/Sinemurian channel mudstone/sandstone in the Elliot Formation of South Africa.
