Hexaplex (Hexaplex) texanus was named by Vokes (1968). Its type specimen is PRI 3000, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is TU 243 - Smithville [Weches Fm], which is in a Lutetian marine horizon in the Weches Formation of Texas.
