Taxonomy
Goniatites truncatus was named by Phillips (1836). Its type specimen is B.M.C 240a and is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Beyrichoceratoides truncatus by Currie (1954) and Ruzhentsev and Bogoslovskaya (1971).
