Epitonium (Cirsotrema) togatum was named by Hertlein and Strong (1951). It is extant. Its type locality is Quebrada Camarones [Esmeraldas Fm], which is in a Pliocene marine sandstone/sandstone in the Esmeraldas Formation of Ecuador.
It was recombined as Cirsotrema togatum by Pitt (1981) and Dushane (1988).
