Typhis longicornis was named by Dall in Agassiz (1888). It is extant. Its type specimen is MCZ 3717, a shell.
It was recombined as Typhis (Trubatsa) longicornis by Dall (1889); it was recombined as Siphonochelus (Siphonochelus) longicornis by Gertman (1969).
