Pterynotus (Pterynotus) weisbordi

Taxonomy
Murex (Pteropurpura) weisbordi was named by Palmer (1947). Its type specimen is PRI 4657, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is TU 99 - Montgomery Landing, which is in a Bartonian coastal marl in the Moodys Branch Formation of Louisiana.

It was recombined as Pterynotus weisbordi by Palmer and Brann (1960); it was recombined as Pterynotus (Pterynotus) weisbordi by Vokes (1970).
