Taxonomy
Muricopsis heilprini was named by Cossmann (1903). Its type specimen is Wagner Free Inst. Sci. 870, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Muricidea heilprini by Dall (1915); it was recombined as Poirieria (Panamurex) heilprini by Vokes (1970).
