Taxonomy
Poirieria (Panamurex) macneili was named by Vokes (1970). Its type specimen is USNM 644618, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is TU 66 - Byram [Byram Marl], which is in an Oligocene coastal marl in the Byram Marl Formation of Mississippi.
