Taxonomy
Murex (Murexsul) carnicolor was named by Clench and Pérez Farfante (1945). It is extant. Its type specimen is MCZ 7305, a shell.

It was recombined as Paziella (Dallimurex) carnicolor by Woodring (1959); it was recombined as Poirieria (Panamurex) carnicolor by Vokes (1970).
