Taxonomy
Tenuicerithium ascensum was named by Hoerle (1972). Its type specimen is USNM 646959, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is TU 459 - Taylor Branch, which is in a Burdigalian marine marl/sandstone in the Chipola Formation of Florida.
