Taxonomy
Murex tubercularis was named by Montagu (1803). It is extant. It is the type species of Cerithiopsis.

It was recombined as Cerithium tuberculare by Wood (1848); it was recombined as Cerithiopsis tubercularis by Hoerle (1972).
