Taxonomy
Cardium junceum was named by Olsson (1930). Its type locality is Lomitos Cgl, Talara Fm - Yasila and Jaquay Cunas, which is in a Bartonian coastal sandstone in the Talara Formation of Peru.
It was recombined as Schedocardia juncea by Clark and Durham (1946) and Woodring (1982).
