Taxonomy
Leioheterodon was named by Boulenger (1893) [spelled Lioheterodon by Boulenger and falsely attributed to Duméril and Bibron 1854, who used the spelling Leioheterodon in the vernacular; see G. S. Myers 1950]. It is extant.

It was assigned to Colubridae by Burney et al. (2008).
