Taxonomy
Basterotia (Basterotella) miocenica was named by Vokes (1981). Its type specimen is USNM 298652, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is TU 555 - Fourmile Creek [Chipola Fm], which is in a Burdigalian marine marl/sandstone in the Chipola Formation of Florida.
