Taxonomy
Sus stehlini was named by Schlosser (1903). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Tientsin, which is in a Pliocene terrestrial sandstone in China.

It was recombined as Chleuastochoerus stehlini by Pearson (1928) and Covert et al. (2001).
