Taxonomy
Typhis (Rugotyphis) stewarti was named by Vokes (1983). Its type specimen is USNM 365136, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is TU 1432 - Residential Martin Luther King [lower Gatun Fm], which is in a Tortonian coastal siltstone in the Gatun Formation of Panama.
