Taxonomy
Rothpletzia floridana was named by Vokes (1982). Its type specimen is USNM 340288, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is TU 1048 - Farley Creek, which is in a Burdigalian marine marl/sandstone in the Chipola Formation of Florida.
