Taxonomy
Hexaplex (Hexaplex) etheringtoni was named by Vokes (1968). Its type specimen is UCMP 33837, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Punta Pua [Tubará Fm], which is in a Pliocene marine siliciclastic in the Tubará Formation of Colombia.
