Taxonomy
Simpulum chlorostomoides was named by Maury (1924). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Rio Pirabas (Maury coll.), which is in a Miocene shallow subtidal limestone/limestone in the Pirabas Formation of Brazil.
It was recombined as Monoplex chlorostomoides by Beu (2010).
