Triton pfeifferianus was named by Reeve (1844). It is extant.

It was recombined as Cymatium pfeifferianum by Hedley (1909); it was recombined as Cymatium (Gutturinium) pfeifferianum by Regteren Altena (1942); it was recombined as Reticutriton pfeifferianum by Habe and Kosuge (1966); it was recombined as Cymatium (Septa) pfeifferianum by Kilburn (1984); it was recombined as Cymatium (Reticutriton) pfeifferianum by Beu (1985); it was recombined as Reticutriton pfeifferianus by Beu (2010).

Synonyms
  • Triton gracilis was named by Reeve (1844) [DISTRIBUTION: Miocene-Recent; Caribbean.]. It is not a trace fossil.

    It was recombined as Lampusia gracile by Dall (1889); it was recombined as Gutturnium gracile by Maury (1917); it was recombined as Cymatium gracile by Popenoe and Kleinpell (1978); it was synonymized subjectively with Reticutriton pfeifferianus by Beu (2010).
