Taxonomy
Apatemys pygmaeus was named by Beard and Dawson (2009). Its type specimen is CM 70442, a tooth (right M2), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Red Hot, which is in a Wasatchian estuary/bay sandstone in the Tuscahoma Formation of Mississippi.
