Taxonomy
Columnocoenia safarratensis was named by El-Asa'ad (1991). It is not a trace fossil. Its type locality is Safarrat and Huraymilah (Ulayyah), Saudi Arabia, which is in an Oxfordian reef, buildup or bioherm framestone in the Hanifa Formation of Saudi Arabia.
