Cadomia was named by Goarant de Tromelin (1877) [Sepkoski's age data: O Llvi-u O Llde-u Sepkoski's reference number: 948].

It was assigned to Malletiinae by Cox et al. (1969) and Vokes (1980); to Nuculoida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Cadomiidae by Bouchet et al. (2010).
