Obirkovia was named by Bulanov and Yashina (2005). It is not extant. Its type is Obirkovia gladiator.

It was assigned to Elginiidae by Bulanov and Yashina (2005) and Ivakhnenko (2008).

V. V. Bulanov and O. V. Yashina 2005Occipital flank of quadratojugal with three large osteoderms. Sculptured anterior projection also possessing three osteoderms. Osteoderms of occipital margin conical. Relatively small osteodermal structures present in anterior part of quadratojugal.
