Taxonomy
Ostrea gatunensis aguaclarensis was named by Hodson et al. (1927). It is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Ostrea aguaclarensis by Hodson (1931); it was recombined as Ostrea (Pycnodonte) gatunensis aguaclarensis by Olsson and Richards (1961); it was recombined as Hyotissa aguaclarensis by Woodring (1982).
