Ostrea cahobasensis was named by Pilsbry and Brown (1910) [MEASUREMENTS: Lectotype used.]. Its type specimen is ANSP 1308, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil.
It was recombined as Crassostrea cahobasensis by Woodring (1982); it was recombined as Striostrea cahobasensis by Bolton and Portell (2013).
