Taxonomy
Liogryphaea costellata was named by Douvillé (1916). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Gebel Aroussieh (Callovian), which is in a Callovian marine horizon in Egypt.

It was recombined as Gryphaea costellata by Cox (1935).
