Soleniscus (Cylindritopsis) vaningeni was named by Knight (1931). It is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Oncochilus vaningeni by Yochelson and Saunders (1967); it was recombined as Cylindritopsis vaningeni by Kues and Batten (2001) and Wagner (2017).
