Kufralaria was named by Termier and Termier (1980) [Sepkoski's age data: D m D u Sepkoski's reference number: ZR81]. Its type is Kufralaria simplex.

It was assigned to Ctenodontidae by Vokes (1990); and to Nuculoida by Sepkoski (2002).
