Ledella was named by Verrill and Bush (1897) [Sepkoski's age data: T Eo-m-u R Sepkoski's reference number: 899]. It is extant.

It was assigned to Ledellinae by Coan et al. (2000); to Nuculoida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Nuculanidae by Vokes (1980), Todd (2001), Spencer et al. (2004) and Mikkelsen (2006).
