Taxonomy
Bornia virgata was named by Gardner (1942) [TYPE: Lectotype used.]. Its type specimen is USNM 352494, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is USGS Loc. 3856 - Mossyhead [Shoal River Fm], which is in a Serravallian marine marl/sandstone in the Shoal River Formation of Florida.
It was recombined as Temblornia virgata by Woodring (1982).
