Euomphalus laxus was named by Hall (1859). It is not extant.

It was recombined as Euomphalus (Ecculiomphalus) laxus by Hall (1876); it was recombined as Phanerotinus laxus by Clarke and Swartz (1913); it was synonymized subjectively with Euomphalus subplanus by Yochelson (1962); it was recombined as Serpulospira laxus by Blodgett and Johnson (1992) and Wagner (2017).
