Taxonomy
Pentasteria boisteli was named by Valette (1929). Its type specimen is Holotype FSL 27445 and is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Archastropecten boisteli by Hess (1955).

H. Hess 1955Arm constricted at their base. Abactinal plates of the disc tight, hexagonal and covered with granules. Superomarginal plates covered with dense granules, most plates also bearing a short conical spine on a crater-shape tubercle. Inferomarginal row parallel to that of the superomarginal plates.
