Crassatella gibbosa was named by Sowerby (1832). It is extant. It is the type species of Eucrassatella (Hybolophus).
It was recombined as Eucrassatella (Hybolophus) gibbosus by Stewart (1930); it was recombined as Eucrassatella (Hybolophus) gibbosa by Woodring (1982); it was recombined as Eucrassatella gibbosa by Coan and Valentich-Scott (2012); it was recombined as Hybolophus gibbosus by Devries (2016).
