Taxonomy
Mactra (Mactrella) tumbezia was named by Olsson (1921). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Basal Heath or Caleto Mero Shales, which is in an Oligocene shoreface sandstone/shale in the Heath Formation of Peru.
It was recombined as Mactrellona tumbezia by Woodring (1982).
