Taxonomy
Ithycythara defuniak was named by Gardner (1938). Its type specimen is USNM 352137, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is USGS Loc. 7264 - DeFuniak Cardium beds [Shoal River Fm], which is in a Serravallian marine marl/sandstone in the Shoal River Formation of Florida.
