Psammotaea candida was named by Lamarck (1818) [DISTRIBUTION: Pliocene-Recent; Indo-Pacific.]. It is extant. It is the type species of Psammacoma.
It was recombined as Gastrana (Macoma) candida by Abrard (1947); it was recombined as Psammacoma candida by Woodring (1982) and Coan et al. (2000).
